Rental Requirements

Boat Rental Requirements: Renter/driver must be born before 1/1/1982 or possess a valid PA Boater Safety Certificate. Out of state boaters must have a certificate issued for a course approved by the NASBLA. And at the time of rental, must additionally present a valid ID, provide a credit card with enough credit for security deposit, and be sufficiently fluent in English to understand navigational signs, charts, instructions and signals, and to accept agreements and instruction regarding rental and safety training.

• BOATS ARE NOT EQUIPPED WITH ANCHORS.
• If renting multiple boats, please contact the office prior to finalizing your reservation.
• You may only have one towable per rental. If you choose two during the booking, the staff will only give you one.
• Must have valid credit card (CASH OR DEBIT NOT ACCEPTED) for $500 or $1,000 security deposit (no debit cards accepted). Deposit will be fully refunded provided there is no vehicle damage or excess in rental time allotment

Rental Policy

1. Pine Crest Marina may refuse, at its sole discretion, to rent to persons it feels are not qualified to operate the craft safely
2. Rental agreement must be completed before departing launch site
3. Pine Crest Marina may terminate, without refund, the rental of the craft, if in its sole judgment, the craft is operated unsafely or the renter violates any of the terms of the rental agreement or rental policies
4. Person providing the deposit must be the one to sign the rental agreement
5. The rented craft shall not be used for any unlawful purpose or operated under the influence of alcohol or drugs
6. Boat occupancy must not exceed boat capacity
7. No nighttime running – craft must be secured between sunset and sunrise
8. Any person not signatory to the rental agreement may not operate the craft.
9. Infants and children do count toward maximum capacity of watercraft
10. Pets are not permitted on boat
11. Fishing is not permitted. Exceptions apply.
12. Rentals do not include gas, tax, or insurance
13. Pine Crest Marina and renter must complete boat inspection checklist at check-in and check-out
14. Renter is responsible for learning and obeying all local, state and federal laws pertaining to the rented craft
15. Any operator that is required to have a Boating Safety Education Certificate must carry the certificate with them while operating a boat.

• You must be familiar with our rental and cancellation policy as well as other requirements before you book a boat. You will be subject to a $75 cancellation fee if you decide to cancel or reschedule your booking more than 48 hours before the start of your rental. If you cancel or reschedule less than 48 hours before your rental starts, or you do not show up, you will lose your deposit and we will charge you the remaining balance. You are responsible for paying the entire rental fee. By making a booking, you agree to adhere to all rules below.
• If you would like to cancel or reschedule your rental, we ask that you email us rather than call, as our phone line is often busy during rental season.

Cancellation Policy for 2.5-Hour, 3-Hour, or 7-Hour Boat Rentals

• We require a 100% rental fee deposit to reserve a 2.5h, 3h, or 7h rental, of which $75.00 is nonrefundable
• Any cancellations less than 48 hours, including for personal emergencies, before the Rental check-in will result in loss of entire rental fee.
• Failure to appear for reservation, late arrivals, or early departures are not eligible for any refunds.
• There is a one hour grace period for a late arrivals.
• Cancellation fees will be waived only if the following conditions exist on Lake Wallenpaupack at the time of the rental:
  • heavy rain lasting more than 45 minutes
  • lightning
  • tornado warnings
  • high wind advisories
  • or any condition that Pine Crest Marina considers unsafe boating conditions.
• In some cases, unsafe boating conditions occur during rental period. Refunds are based off of our hourly boat rental price schedule available at the office.
• Rental interruptions during the Rental Period, including but not limited to, inadvertent Boat malfunctions on the part of Renter, weather conditions (except that listed below), personal emergencies, or otherwise are not eligible for refunds.

Multiday (3+ Day) Boat Rentals Cancellation Policy

1. We require a 100% rental fee deposit for multiday (3+ Day) reservations, of which $75 is not refundable.
2. Any cancellations less than 7 days for multiday (3+ Day) rentals, including for personal emergencies, before the Rental start time will result in loss of entire rental fee.
3. “No shows”, late arrivals, or early departures not eligible for refunds.
4. However, there is a one hour grace period for late arrivals.
5. For multiday (3+ Day) boat rentals, we do not issue refunds due to inclement weather conditions
6. Rental interruptions during the Rental Period, including but not limited to, inadvertent Boat malfunctions on the part of the renter, personal emergencies, or otherwise are not eligible for refunds

Boating Safety

Since the safety of our renters is crucial to us, we provide safety guidebooks and videos on our Boating Safety page for every renter to review before they go on the water. On checkout, we will ask you to confirm that you have sufficiently informed yourself on these rules, regulations, and guidelines. The marina provides all required safety equipment and life jackets at no additional charge. Thank you for your understanding and participation in our boater education effort.

If renting multiple boats, please contact the office prior to finalizing your reservation

• Please complete the required documents sent to you in the confirmation email. If they are not completed by all drivers and the card holder we will have you step out of the office to complete the forms while we assist customers who have them completed and ready for check in. If this delays your rental, you will not be compensated for lost time. These forms are sent with the confirmation email.
• Please arrive at least 30min before your scheduled departure time so you can leave on time.
• You must be fluent in English to rent a boat. This is to ensure that you understand our rental agreement as well as our staff’s safety guidelines.
• You must have a boating license if you were born on or after January 1st on 1982. You may obtain one by completing the Official Pennsylvania Boating Safety Course Online. We also require recent boating experience (last two years). Any operator that is required to have a Boating Safety Education Certificate must carry the certificate with them while operating a boat. Approved permanent Boating Safety Education Certificates for Pennsylvania residents must be issued by the PA Fish and Boat Commission. Out of state boaters must have a certificate issued for a course approved by the NASBLA.
